Hey! We're the

One of the most precious things we have is time. That’s why we are relentlessly dedicated to our work and our clients, because time is what we give you more of. More time with each other, more time with the moments that matter most.

Our philosophy

We met in the summer of 2012 and it was love at first sight! Like one of those super cheesy meet-cutes that you see in the movies. Of course we both thought we were losing our minds at the time. That was the day we filmed our first wedding together. Fast forward 8 months, we couldn’t get married soon enough and a few years later we built Direct Light Studios.

Creating films together was undoubtedly our calling. We each have complementary strengths which make us better creatives. Our favorite part of what we do is meeting and sharing experiences with people. We are inspired by couples who are unconventional and unabashedly in love with one another. Through our work, we have learned from, connected with and made friends who have forever made an impact on our lives.

Our Story

At seven years old I was determined that anyone could be Superman. So my brave yet delighted babysitter put a camera in my hand. By the end of the day, a camera made magic happen. On the other side of the lens, towels transformed into capes, box fans became the wind in our hair, and stair bannisters gave us flight. Many bloopers later, we had a film somewhat resembling actual Superman, Richard Donner would be proud.

Since discovering the impact that film has on human connection, I have been fascinated with creating and capturing experiences.

Throughout school, I would strive to find any excuse to turn a basic homework assignment or class presentation into a movie. Subsequently, I started to notice how much more engaged and interactive my classmates would be because of the film. Something I truly loved creating had real time impact.

After graduating college, I amused a corporate career until I filmed my first wedding. I’ll never forget the feeling of being back in my element and doing something profoundly important. I was exactly where I was supposed to be.

I am a builder. Being one of six brothers, our family pastimes always included building, fixing...and depending on the ruckus, rebuilding. In contrast, my own personal outlet was piano, a love affair that would later grow into a college degree and open many doors to creative paths along the way.

Unbeknownst to 12 year old me, the day I picked up a Canon F-1, I opened a door to the beginning of my career as a filmmaker. Through the following decade of developing my own film and making my own prints, diving into camera, lighting and darkroom techniques, I started to regard each part of the process as its own important building block. There was something inexplicably thrilling about being able to set a camera and capture a moment time.

Then Canon spearheaded a filmmaking revolution with the 5D Mark II. This DSLR inspired unprecedented heights for a discovery within a creative outlet that I had organically invested my life. Becoming a filmmaker was the culmination of a background deeply rooted in a blend of precision and art .

Ten years later, I build digital stories alongside the love of my life. We’ve built a 6 time international award winning business balanced by her unlimited vision and my unwavering curiosity.
